Lincoln Head Start Program
The Lincoln Head Start Child Development Program offers a range of comprehensive learning activities for preschool-aged children for low-income families. Serving children ages 3 to 5 in a center-based setting in Lincoln and Union parishes, the program provides a strong foundation for early learning and development.
Parents are encouraged to participate as members of the Policy Council and classroom volunteers, fostering a nurturing and collaborative environment that supports their child's growth.
Program Focus Areas
Transportation Services
Head Start offers reliable transportation to and from our centers, giving parents peace of mind and eliminating the worry of how to get their child to school. We're here to make access to early education as easy and stress-free as possible.
Primary Funding
Provided by the Department of Health and Human Services, supporting all core program activities.
Additional funds are allocated to support children with disabilities, ensuring coordinated care with other programs and agencies to address each child’s unique needs.
Child Care Food Program
Funded by the State Department of Education, providing at least two nutritional meals daily for each child. Parents and staff also receive training on nutrition for better health practices at home and school.
Training and Technical Assistance (T&TA)
Funding dedicated to staff and parent training, ensuring continuous improvement in quality of care and education.
Special Needs Services
The Lincoln Head Start Child Development program coordinates with other agencies and partners in responding to the specialized needs of the disabled child.
Other Special Services
Coordinators are available to provide assistance with housing, employment, and various services specifically geared toward single parents.
